Movie Set Monday- The Good Wife

Are you ready to see the chicest Chicago apartment on television? It’s truly one of the reasons I liked the show so much. I binged The Good Wife a while back and shared an instastory about it on my Instagram. And then just this weekend my sister-in-law told me that she has started watching it! I was so excited for her and told her to buckle up for the ride. It’s a wild one! One thing’s for sure, Alicia’s apartment is pretty spectacular.

If you’ve been around here awhile, you know I have a thing for French doors and built ins. Since this apartment has both, I’m pretty much swooning over this one picture and don’t have to see anything else.

But I’m going to show you more, because it’s all really good.

The picture above really lets you see that it’s a true set used for filming. However, that’s what this series is about- Movie SET Monday. Look, even more built ins! It’s seriously part of what my dream home looks like. It’s why I buy so many thrift store books and never get rid of them even after I’ve read them. I’m holding out for lots of built in bookcases.

It blows my mind that someone dreamed up this gorgeous apartment and all the details and built it for a television show. It has given so many people inspiration for their own homes. What a cool thing to be able to do for a living. Already, I know I’d like a diamond pattern floor in the future. And that’s just the hallway of the apartment building!

The furnishings and decor of the apartment are very traditional. If you’ve seen the show, then you know that’s pretty fitting for Alicia.

I’m really digging the color of the dining room and the sconces on either side of the gallery wall. I love the clean look of that many frames arranged in such a perfect grid.

I really like the cabinet door color. It pairs well with the dark wood of the rest of the cabinetry.  However, there’s a lot of open shelving that feels a bit too busy for my taste. This is the only thing about the apartment that I don’t like. It’s still very chic, but it’s not my personal style.

I love a blue master bedroom. This blue/grey is a serene color that seems light and fresh, yet it’s cozy and warm with the dark furniture. It’s the perfect combination. I don’t even mind the carpet. It softens the room.

I’ve always been fascinated with big city apartments. These Chicago digs are incredibly chic and may even inspire me to use a blue/grey paint on the walls of our master bedroom. Hmm…I’m forever inspired by television and movie sets, and that’s why I keep coming back to this blog series. If I’m inspired, my creativity starts flowing and I’ve learned I’m very happy in that creative head space.

So, what’s your favorite part of the set of The Good Wife? Built ins? The kitchen? That diamond pattern floor? Tell me in the comments.
