My Favorite Fall Accessory

Some of you might say, “Elizabeth, I know your favorite fall accessory is definitely a scarf.” And you’d be making a pretty valid point, but fall in the south is still pretty warm, and the accessory I always pull out first will not make you hot.

Yep, nail polish. Told you it wouldn’t make you hot in the southern fall temperatures. 🙂

Eight of my favorite colors are from a brand called Zoya. One of the best things about this brand is that they are Big 10 Free, which means they aren’t formulated with Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, Camphor, TPHP, Parabens, Xylene, Ethyl Tosylamide, and Lead. They’re also free of puppy and kitty testing. How great to be able to have a beautiful manicure that is good for you to wear! Other great qualities about this product and the brand:

  • It won’t chip for a week.
  • Only $10 a bottle
  • Excellent sales
  • Yearly trade in of your unsafe nail polish for a Zoya polish (Yep, that’s real.)

It’s best to order Zoya directly from their website since there’s nowhere in Greenville that carries it. There are a few bottles in Ulta in Montgomery, but mostly neutral colors and none of this fall goodness.

Here are my favorite Zoya shades:

Sailor– The perfect navy blue. Makes for a great gameday nail look for any Auburn girls out there.

Olivera– A fun and unexpected multi-colored, shimmer that you truly only need one coat of to achieve a flawless mani.

Charlie– This one I purchased because I was so inspired by the colors Joanna Gaines was wearing on one of the earlier seasons of Fixer Upper. I found this one in Ulta in Baton Rouge and had to have it. I use two coats, and it dries darker than it looks in the bottle, but it’s still so great. If you’re looking for a more muted and lighter green, try Ireland or Misty for a greenish neutral.

Eastyn– The sun is making this look much lighter than it is. It’s light and definitely a neutral, but it goes on as a violet grey. It was another Jojo-inspired purchase, and as usual, Jojo knows! It’s a great color and looks superb on people who have a slightly darker complexion than I do. Which is basically everyone except Casper, aka me.

Genevieve– This dark grey is the one I reach for the most. It dries very dark, but not as harsh as black. It’s a great deep charcoal grey. Love this one. It’s the one I’m wearing in the top image.

Marnie– This color is named for one of my favorite beauty Youtubers, Marnie Goldberg. It also dries much darker than it looks in the bottle, but it’s one of those deep, wine colors. Closest to maroon with a tinge of brown.

Tara– I’ll admit I wasn’t so in love with this one when I first got it in. It looked too much like a berry color, and those aren’t my favorite. But it goes on as a deep, deep plum and it’s gorgeous! It doesn’t look purple-y at all. It’s so beautiful. I’ll be reaching for this one a lot this year.

Storm– Storm makes for a terrific Halloween manicure. It’s got a holographic, glitter finish that is perfect for any holiday, really, but it’s super fun for Halloween. Only two coats to achieve a completely opaque and shiny look.

You also need to check out their Fall 2018 collection. Holy. Moly. It’s stunning. Especially this one and this one.

I do have two other favorites from the drug store that are by Sally Hansen from the Complete Salon Manicure line.

On Pines and Needles– Such a beautiful emerald green that I love to wear in December. I like red nail polish, but I like green better when I’m trying to be festive. I want to be honest and let you know that this color will stain your nails so be prepared. The stain usually wears off quickly, but they will be a little stained between polishes.

Plum’s the Word– This color is so beautiful. It’s similar to Zoya Marnie, but not as dark. It’s a deep, mauve that is a great fall neutral.

If drug store nail polish is your jam, then these two will knock it out of the park for fall colors.

There ya have it, my favorite fall accessory. Did I surprise you with that one? Most people don’t consider it an accessory, but I sure do. If you’re like me and do your own nails, it’s pretty much a weekly thing to revamp your manicure. And I will totally avoid certain colors if I know I have to wear something specific that would clash with a nail polish I have on. And that totally makes it an accessory, my favorite one for fall.
