Seven on a Saturday- Kitchen Rug Ideas

Happy Saturday, y’all! I’ve been living with the same kitchen rugs since I lived in Louisiana, and I’m ready for some new ones! These worked fine when I had my blue curtains, but now that I have the black and white buffalo check shades, I think the blue rugs needs to go. I’ve been perusing the interwebs looking for some inspiration. I think I’ve settled on a few styles that seem to suit the look I’m hoping to achieve, but I’m still looking for that “champagne taste” rug that will fit into my “beer budget”. Take a look at what I’ve rounded up today. Each photo is linked to it’s source.

I think the Turkish look is what I’m most drawn to, but they can be pretty high in price. I particularly love this one and it’s colors. I’m unsure if I should do a runner or a full on rug.
My kitchen is set up similar to this in that there is a large open space that would be able to handle a larger rug rather than smaller ones in front of the sink, door, and stove. I’m not loving this actual rug for me and my home, but I like the idea of having one large rug.
I liked this photo because my kitchen is also white with white appliances, and I like the pop of color on the floor. This rug looks like it was meant to live here. It’s a perfect fit.
Mixing rug patterns isn’t something I had thought about doing, but it’s not so bad. It keeps everything from being too matchy-matchy.
If you can ignore this jaw-dropping kitchen to actually look at the rug, you’ll notice it’s more of a natural material. I like this option, too. I feel like it might be better if I was going full cottage/farmhouse style, though. And I’m not really going for that look. In fact, if the right rug came along and it didn’t work with the curtains, they’d be gone in a heartbeat.
Oh, another idea! The larger rug with a slim island (which I’ve considered). And this is perfection.
I’ve been almost exclusively looking at rugs in lighter colors and tones, but one in a darker color may be the way I should go. I tend to be a very messy cook and spill plenty. Perhaps this type of rug would be best for me.

Hmm…decisions, decisions. Home decor is a never ending thing for me. My taste changes every so often, but as I’ve gotten older I’m looking for more classic pieces that will stand the test of time. That’s what I’m hoping to accomplish with a kitchen runner or rug(s).
Do you have any good sources for rugs you’d share with me? Do you have a good rug in your kitchen or are you one who needs machine washable ones? That’s probably what I should be looking for. Ha! Tell me about it in the comments.

Have a great weekend!
