5 Good Things | No. 15

Though this blog post is all about the good things of the week, we Normans had quite the sad one with the loss of Paul’s grandmother, Mrs. Dot. She was a classy, beautiful woman who loved to golf and amazed me at her ability to get up and move with ease well into her 80s. I want to say thank you to everyone who reached out to express their sympathy, love, and prayers. Knowing she is whole in Heaven gives us peace, but she will, of course, be missed here.

I never got a blog post of good things up last week, so I’ve got two weeks worth of good things for you today. Today we’ve got recipes, a book, and even some beauty products to talk about. Let’s get started.

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup Recipe

The cooler temps two weeks had Paul and me craving a warm, delicious soup. We decided to make an Olive Garden Copycat Chicken and Gnocchi Soup Recipe. I found it here on Pinterest. It took about an hour from start to finish, which qualifies as a weeknight meal to me. I would have rather prepared my chicken earlier, but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Boiling a few chicken breasts doesn’t take long nor does it take a lot of effort. But you could always go the easy route and buy a rotisserie chicken and shred that up in the soup. High praise for this one.

Book Club

I finally got back to book club, which was the most needed thing. If you need an excuse to have a monthly girls night but never find the time, call it a book club and see if that will get you out of the house. I actually did read the book and liked it a lot. I talked about it here and highly recommend it. But when I tell you it was nice to get together with those girls, it was NICE! We sat on the porch and ate pizza and talked about everything. I left feeling a little lighter.

Keto Friendly Dessert Recipe

Speaking of book club…I agreed to make a dessert for it, but a lot of the girls are trying to eat low carb. Back to Pinterest again to search for a low carb/keto dessert recipe. Pinterest totally delivered! (What did we do without it?) I made a 3 ingredient keto chocolate mousse. Here’s the Pinterest link so you can pin it, too. It was a tad gritty because the monkfruit sweetener I found at Walmart wasn’t powdered. It was granulated and made the texture a little “crunchy” as Paul said. 🙂 It was tasty, but if you can secure the powdered sweetener, I suggest using that.

TV Shows

Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl) Season 6 Quotes | Planet Claire Quotes
Chuck and Blair forever!

Last Sunday I managed to finish my re-watch of Gossip Girl. If you’ve never seen it, it’s total eye candy with all the fashion and pretty people…hello Ed Westwick…but this go round I thought how silly the actual plot of the show was. Not the Gossip Girl blogger part but the things that these teenagers got themselves into. Makes for good entertainment, though.

Emily in Paris' underwhelms across the board - The Tufts Daily

After I finished that I decided to start Emily in Paris since everyone was talking about it. I finished it quickly since it’s only ten episodes and just 30 minutes each. I liked it a lot and thought it was easy, mindless television. I do not agree with the people comparing the fashion to Sex and the City. I don’t think the shows compare at all. But in it’s own right, it’s pretty great.

Beautycounter Beyond Gloss

When Beautycounter came out with their new Beyond Gloss earlier this year, I waited too long to order the color I really wanted and then it was sold out. 🙁 It finally came back in stock, so I scooped it up. It has come in, and it is just as wonderful as I’d hoped. It’s beautifully pigmented, and it still remains the best lip gloss I’ve ever used!

Holiday Sets

Speaking of Beautycounter, the Holiday Sets have officially arrived! I rounded up all you need to know in an easy to shop guide. There are some wonderful sets this year. Like the Beyond Gloss Trio– these limited edition shades are flattering on everyone. And they’re full size tubes! If you’re interested in more info or purchasing any of them, please let me know. I’d be happy to be your Christmas elf this year.

Book Worth Reading

Amazon.com: The Last Train to Key West (9780451490889): Cleeton, Chanel: Books

The Last Train to Key West has been on my list since before it came out, and I finally got my hands, well my ears on it. I opted to go the audiobook route, and it was very good. The story follows three women who are in Key West during the 1935 Labor Day hurricane. While it wasn’t my favorite of the books I’ve read by Chanel Cleeton, I did enjoy it and definitely recommend it.

Here’s hoping for plenty more good things to share next Monday. I did get the house decorated for Halloween, so we’re already off to a great start! Have a fabulous week, y’all!
