Top 10 Skincare Products and Tools

As someone who has had a sordid past with skin issues, I would say I have tried the lot of skincare products. I was on prescription medication as a teen and the mildest of all cleansers for most of my 20s. Now that I’m mid-thirties, I’ve finally found my sweet spot for skincare. I think you should always be open to change, but it’s a very good feeling to have found what works for me. Here’s a list of my top ten products that have significantly changed my skin for the better.

Tinkle Razors

Shaving your face isn’t talked about nearly enough. I have been doing it for years and like the Tinkle Razors the best to get the job done right. I have a tutorial already in my Instastories, so be sure to check that out if you need some pointers. Shaving your face is the at-home equivalent of dermaplaning. So many great benefits.

Gua Sha

Amazon.com: Gua Sha Massage Tool for Facial and Body Massage, Jade Gua Sha Tool Green Aventurine, Gua Sha Stones and Lymphatic Drainage Tool : Beauty & Personal Care

This fun little tool is new to me. I got it for Christmas and have enjoyed using it with serums and moisturizers. If you’ve ever dealt with sinus issues, then you’ve maybe done a lymphatic drainage massage. (If you haven’t, next time you have a cold, check out this video. Do it like she says. It’ll change your life.) But if you’d like to try to keep your system in check regularly, try a gua sha facial massage. There are tons of gua sha tutorials out there, but I like this one. You’ll get great technique tips and even learn how to clean it after. Gua sha facial massages depuff, ease facial tension, improve blood flow, and leave you with a brighter complexion. Plus, it’s a little extra me time for you. Here’s the one I have.

Charcoal Mask

No surprises here if you’ve been around Living a Norman Life a while. I am crazy for a charcoal mask because I have oily, acne prone skin, and I love a good detox. My most favorite charcoal mask I’ve tried is Beautycounter’s Counter+ Charcoal Facial Mask. It’s thick, works in 15 minutes but can stay on longer, and leaves your skin super clean and soft. Formulated with activated charcoal and salicylic and lactic acids, it will leave your skin looking and feeling polished.

Vitamin C Serum

I didn’t want to buy into this one. I thought it was surely a trend, but nope, it’s the real deal. I noticed a difference in my skin the very first time I used Beautycounter’s Counter+ All Bright C Serum. My skin was brighter all day, and with prolonged use, my skin tone has evened out a good bit. There are two types of vitamin C in this serum: one to repair and brighten and one to protect from environmental stressors. Plus, it helps to reduce wrinkles and fine lines. But when you pair it with the…..

Overnight Resurfacing Peel

….Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel, you have a recipe for even greater skin. These two work together to help boost skin’s radiance and improve overall skin texture. While it totally works wonders on it’s own, it does play very nicely with the C serum. It’s formulated with a combination of acids that act as a peel but without the downtime of a traditional chemical peel. Use it every other night and wake up younger. When people ask for a product recommendation to reduce dark spots, this is the product I point them to.

Eye Cream

I decided around age 30 that I needed an eye cream, and I have hit the motherload with Beautycounter’s Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream. It’s luxurious and creamy, and most importantly, it works. I’ve even used it on the elevens that are forming between my eyes, and it has stopped them in their tracks. I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s true.

SOS Acne Spot Treatment

Friends, if you have acne breakouts, you must order this wonder product. I think it is such a brilliant tool to have in your arsenal of skincare. Wintergreen, rosebay willow, and salicylic acid help to zap your zits into oblivion. Apply a tiny amount directly to the blemish morning and night, and it will be gone in a flash. The SOS Acne Spot Treatment is a game changer.

Charcoal Bar

One of the very first things I tried at Beautycounter was the Counter+ Charcoal Cleansing Bar. I was dealing with some adult acne, that my dermatologist swore would go away by the time I was 25. She lied. But the charcoal bar helped to detoxify my skin daily in a gentle way. I still like to use it as a double cleanse. I will use it to remove my makeup and then follow up with my regular skincare cleanser for a super clean face to soak up all the other goodness from the regimen I’m using.

Clear Pore Cleanser

This is the last product I’ll sing praises about for acne prone skin, but hey, it’s been my journey, and I know I’m not the only one. The Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser is still one of my favorite Beautycounter products. I’m currently out, but when I have it, I like to keep this one in the shower. It has tiny microbeads that are perfect for twice daily, extremely gentle, exfoliation. If you have larger pores like I do, you likely have blackheads like I do. These microbeads get in there to help clean out those pores. I think this product is a perfect cleanser for teens, too.

Countertime Regimen

Now for the pièce de résistance…the Countertime Regimen. It’s formulated with a retinatural complex of Bakuchiol and Swiss Alpine Rose, which is basically nature’s retinol. It gives you all the benefits of retinol without any of the harsh side effects. It’s also super hydrating and helps to turn back the clock by reducing and preventing wrinkles and fine lines. It’s a four step system that provides silky smooth skin. I have loved every time I’ve used it, which is going on three months now. Plus the size of the bottles are pretty massive, so you aren’t running out of this stuff any time soon. If you’re intrigued but would rather just try it for a short amount of time, there’s also a mini version that’s totally travel friendly.

And there ya have it. My top ten skincare products and tools. If you have any questions about any of these, please reach out. I’d love to help you jump on the safer beauty train. Now, go cozy up on this cold weekend and have another cup of coffee.
