5 Good Things No. 5

What a week last week was! I did some major adulting on Wednesday and bought new tires for my car. Hurt my feelings a little when he told me how much they cost, but I feel much better knowing I’m safer on the road. We attended a birthday party Friday night for Paul’s brother and his wife. Finally, Paul ran a big golf tournament over the weekend. Needless to say, we are rather tired and this week is shaping up to be just as busy. I’ve got a list of 5+ things to share with you this week. Let’s get started.

TV Shows

Season 3 of Ozark
Wow! If you’ve seen it, you know. So many jaw dropping moments but THAT ENDING!

Final episodes of Fuller House
Growing up with Full House meant that I was absolutely going to watch Fuller House as an adult. It’s absolutely a cheesy show, but it’s actually really funny. Max and Fernando make it worth watching.

Defending Jacob on Apple TV+
Based on the book by William Landay, this show is about a family whose son is accused of murdering a classmate and the trial that follows. It was a captivating story, and I thought it was well-acted.

Books to Read

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

What Alice Forgot by [Liane Moriarty]

Alice falls and hits her head at the gym and loses the last ten years of her life. She doesn’t remember her children, her impending divorce, and other traumas that have plagued her life. It provoked so many thoughts and feelings about what it would be like to have missed the last ten years of my life. It may be my favorite of the Moriarty books I’ve read.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

Told entirely in letters among the characters, it tells the story of an author trying to find her next story. She manages to meet a stranger through these letters and travels to the island of Guernsey where her life is ultimately changed forever. I could not put this book down. Though the book was unbelievably wonderful, the movie, not so much. If you watched the movie first, read the book! But if you’ve finished the book already and loved it, you can skip the movie. They changed a lot and left out a lot, and I just wasn’t a fan.

Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas

I’ve been craving Mexican food but didn’t really want to head out to the restaurants yet. I thought about take-out, but then I ran across this Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas recipe from on of my favorites to follow on Instagram: @nashvilletash.
The enchiladas aren’t spicy but they definitely filled the need for Mexican cuisine. I highly recommend giving it a try if you want a delicious, slightly sweeter take on traditional enchiladas.

Dog Grooming by Cara Wood

I’d like to spread a little local love to Mrs. Cara Wood for always taking care of Bernie when she needs a good hair cut and scrub down. She’s the sweetest and will love on your pups like they’re her own. If you need more info, let me know and I can get you in touch.

New-ish Lip Combo

The reason the combo is new-ish is because of the difference in application. I have sung the praises of Beautycounter lip products for a long time. The lip glosses aren’t sticky and are the best ones I’ve ever used, and the lipsticks are long wearing and creamy that do not dry out my lips. The exact products I’m using:
Lip Gloss in Bare Shimmer
Color Intense Lipstick in 9 to 5

Normally, I’d put up the lipstick on first and the gloss after like most women. The color is intense like the name says and the gloss adds a beautiful shimmer over the top. But I needed a toned down nude color and didn’t have a good one. So I decided to apply the gloss first and swipe the lipstick over top of it. Bam! Perfect nude color, glossy, and pretty.
Lesson: Think outside the box. Get creative with your makeup. Lipstick can be used as cream blush or eye shadow. Or if you do want a new lip combo, give these two a try. They’ll be delivered right to your door and come with a 60 day money back guarantee if you don’t like it.

Alright, I don’t know about y’all, but we actually have a busy week ahead of us here in the Norman house, so I’ll be diving right in with a trip to the vet for Bernie’s check-up today. And I think I have something every day until Friday. Feels kind of good to have plans again, actually. I hope y’all have a great week!
