5 Good Things | No. 7

This weekend we visited my brother, Andrew, and his wife, Anna, at their home in Montgomery. They cooked for us and put us up for the night, and it was so nice to see them. I don’t think we’ve seen each other since before March. I’m also 3/4 of the way done with my tassel trim on the curtains I got for our living room. I ran out of the hem tape, so I’ll be making a run to the store soon. Maybe that’ll be a good thing for next week. I’ve got a few more than 5 good things this week. Let me know your thoughts on them if you find them to be good things, too.

To Catch a Thief

To Catch A Thief (1955) Poster #1 - Trailer Addict

I’ve wanted to watch this Hitchcock classic for years but just never have. I was looking around on Amazon Prime Video this week and found that it was available to watch. Once I got past the fashion and the French coast *swoon*, I found the story about a thief called The Cat to be a pretty interesting story. Grace Kelley is gorgeous as ever, as is Carey Grant, and it was a very good thing.

The Dutch House by Ann Patchett

The Dutch House: A Novel - Kindle edition by Patchett, Ann. Literature & Fiction Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

I didn’t actually read it, but I did listen to it, and Tom Hanks was the narrator. It was most wonderful to hear him read. He has a pretty unique voice, and it kept me intrigued the whole time. But it wasn’t only Tom Hanks’s voice. The story was captivating. Patchett has a way of developing the characters over time and bringing the story together for a beautiful ending. If you’re into dysfunctional families, a big, old house, and some tough family drama, you’ll love this story.

First, you must make this recipe. It was surprisingly easy and very delicious. Then you must follow Half Baked Harvest on Instagram. Every single day she posts a recipe and walks you through it step-by-step. I have found so many recipes that I want to try. My friend Kayla made one of the homemade pop tarts recipes and they looked incredible.

Fudge Covered Oreos

Oreo Fudge Covered Dark Chocolate 9.9oz : Target

I strolled past these Oreos in Walmart last week, and I couldn’t leave without them. Man, they are good. There aren’t that many in the box, which is just fine, because one is enough for a sweet treat. I believe there are more kinds: vanilla cream in the middle and a mint version. You’re welcome.

Target Espadrilles

Women's Morgan Espadrille Wedge - Universal Thread™ - image 1 of 10

Though the press conference held by Dr. Mackey didn’t really give us a whole lot to go on, I decided that if we do, in fact, go back to school in August, I needed a new pair of shoes that will be cute but also comfortable. Enter the Morgan Espadrille Wedge by Universal Thread. They are a tad heavy but are easy to walk in and comfortable to be in for a long time. I put them to the test on Friday. I got my true size 8.5, and they fit perfectly.

Faith Necklace

I discovered Choice Jewelry Designs on Instagram a while back and fell in love with their necklace. Faith has been a big part of my adult life, and God has been so faithful to me when it comes to practicing faith and showing me how it can take me through anything life sends my way. In a way, it seemed this necklace was meant for me. So I subtly sent one of their posts to Paul on Instagram and told him if he ever felt generous… Well, wouldn’t you know he was feeling mighty generous this week and gave it to me Saturday. I’m completely in love with it and love the message behind the design. Read about it here.

Thank You

I just wanted to say thank you to those of you who have supported my Beautycounter business during the sale that happened last week. And a big thank you to those of you who sent a text to let congress know that we’d like stricter laws when it comes to ingredients in our personal care products. And if you haven’t done it, you can do it now. Just text BETTERBEAUTY to 52886. You’ll be prompted to send an email already drafted for you. I’d love for you to do it. I’ve already received a reply from Sen. Jones. And if you’re interested in Beautycounter products or our mission or the advocacy we are so proud of, please feel free to message me. I’d be so happy to tell you more.

Have a great week, everyone!
