5 Good Things | No. 8

How’s everyone doing after a long holiday weekend? I’m a little slow to start on this Monday. Mostly because I chose to watch Hamilton (again) yesterday rather than do anything productive. Oh well. YOLO, right? Speaking of Hamilton, let’s dive into today’s 5 good things.

Hamilton on Disney+

I’ve been obsessing over the Hamilton cast album since way back in 2016. I knew I had never heard anything like it, and I knew it was special. It never worked out for me to see it on the stage, and I was super happy when it was announced that in 2021, we’d get to experience it in theaters. Remember that? But then COVID-19 happened and bless his wonderful and talented heart, Lin-Manuel Miranda said we should all see this work of art in the comfort of our own homes and NOW. I counted down to July 3rd like it was Christmas morning, and I do believe it was even more wonderful than I could have imagined. It has a little bit of everything a movie needs and you also get to learn things in the process. Lin is a pure genius. I hope you all get to watch it at least once.

Tassel Curtains

Remember these curtains I got from Target? Well, I couldn’t help thinking they needed a little something more, so I found inspo from Jewel Marlowe, specifically the curtains from this room. Jewel was able to use a lovely tassel trim that I looked up and was way out of my price range, so I found some old black yarn, bought some black grosgrain ribbon and hem tape, and I DIY’d my own tassel trim. I am mostly happy with the way they turned out. I think maybe I’d have liked more tassels, but I ran out of yarn and so did Walmart. So, here we are. I think it’s exactly what the curtains needed, and I am extremely pleased.

Faux Leather Espadrilles

Women's Rae Espadrille Platform - Universal Thread™ - image 1 of 10

Last week, I talked about the cute spotted espadrilles I got from Target, and this past week, these faux leather ones came in. These shoes are part of my “back to school” purchases, which may or may not get worn to school next month, but that’s not what we’re talking about today. I find them to be a tad more comfortable than the spotted ones because of the lower heel height, and with my handy dandy Body Glide, I don’t get any blisters.

T-shirt Dress

Wisteria Cottage has gotten many colors of this dress, but staying true to myself, I scooped the black one up the second it got unboxed. It’s an unbelievably soft material, has pockets, slits up both sides (essential for summer), and you can size down one for the best fit. I’ve loved it, and the ways to style this dress are endless. You need one! Buy it here or shop in store.

Blue Moon Iced Coffee Blonde

Taco Tuesdays (Ahhh…remember those? *sniff*) at Wintzell’s always included a draft Blue Moon. Random fact about me: It’s my favorite beer. My brother-in-law is also a fan of a Blue Moon and told me about the iced coffee blonde. He was kind enough to send one my way, and I was very impressed. I’m not going to spend an afternoon drinking a whole bunch of these, but it’s a delicious beer to have one or two of. The more I drank of the bottle, the more I realized it totally tastes like an iced coffee. You’ll definitely enjoy it if that fits your flavor palette. Thanks for introducing me to this one, Ben!

Bonus: Currently Reading

I recently got this audiobook from the library, and I was hooked from the beginning. I’m really into this thriller. I’m only halfway through, but I already have my guesses on how it’s all going to end. I hate figuring out the ending so soon, so I hope I’m wrong and will be surprised. It’s coming out as a film staring Amy Adams, and I definitely want to see it. Highly recommend so far.

Tell me one good thing about last week in the comments. I’d love to hear it! Have a great week, y’all!
